Storm Interface Product Selected for Automated Passport Solution (APS)

Storm Interface is proud to have been selected as one of the hardware suppliers for the Dallas Fort Worth Airport ‘Automated Passport Solution’ (APS) kiosk.

Increasing numbers of international flights into Dallas Fort Worth Airport caused a significant increase to waiting times as travellers completed the customs clearance process.  The APS kiosk aims to shorten the clearance process by collecting biographical and passport information from passengers before they are seen by a customs officer.  This will speed up the clearance process for millions of travellers.

The kiosk was conceived by DFW Airport IT and Dedo Interactive. It was built by Olea Kiosks Inc. United States Customs and Border Protection officials closely supervised its development and construction to ensure data security standards were scrupulously implemented.

The Nav-Pad™ from Storm Interface has been selected to provide accessibility to the kiosk’s functions for those with physical or sensory impairments. The required  level of accessibility is often not achieved by the primarily visual interface offered by touch screens alone.

Since introducing the APS kiosks in January, DFW airport have seen customs waiting times  go down dramatically. Compared with the same period last year, waiting times are down by 42%, despite passenger numbers increasing by 15% during the same period.
